INTERMEDIATE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (P.ENG.)

As a Structural Engineer, you'll get to work on and design a variety of challenging projects ranging from buildings to industrial facilities. You'll collaborate closely with architects, contractors, and other team members to ensure that our structures are not only safe and efficient but also innovative and practical. [ a day in the life of an intermediate structural engineer at co-elevate ]

  • Attend a stand-up meeting with your scrum team to discuss yesterday’s challenges and plan for the day’s tasks.

  • Develop concepts for design collaboratively with Senior Structural Engineers

  • Design structures in various building materials such as steel, concrete, timber, and masonry

  • Prepare plans, designs, models, and calculations based on approved concepts. Approval by Senior Structural Engineer or Structural Engineer

  • Mentor Structural Engineers, Structural Designers, and Structural Engineering Students

  • A daily break for a game of table tennis or foosball is always welcomed.

  • Attend one of co-elevate’s group events such as potlucks, lunch & learns, book club, etc.

  • Participate in one of co-elevate’s charity causes such as blood drives, toy drives, food drives, or seasonal in-house charity events.

  • At the end of a long day, it is commonplace for our leadership to send staff members home to ensure work-life balance.

[ what we are looking for in a intermediate structural engineer ]

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario

  • Minimum 5 years related work experience

  • Experienced in the design of multiple structure types and materials (steel, wood, masonry, concrete, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of applicable Canadian Standards and Codes (OBC, NBC, CSA Standards, etc.)

  • Ability to define clear goals for all aspects of a project and develop steps for their proper execution

  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAFE, SAP, and RISA3D

  • Creativity and innovation in finding solutions

  • Capable of mentoring, guiding, and providing oversight to junior engineers

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Willing to work in-office (London, ON or Kitchener, ON)
